Dr. Jill Stein, the Green Party's Presidential candidate in 2012 and 2016, will travel to Flint this Friday, July 21st to speak about the Flint Water Crisis with local residents. The discussion will take place at the Wolves Den Camp, located at 1115 Mason St., in Flint.
Stein, a Harvard-educated Medical Doctor, was vocal about the Flint Water Crisis, calling for the prosecution of Michigan Governor Rick Snyder.
"No human being should be condemned to drink water contaminated by a neurotoxin,” said Stein during her 2016 run.
Dr. Stein has been a long-time advocate for clean, safe water. She co-authored two books related to the topic, "In Harm's Way: Toxic Threats to Child Development" in 2000, and "Environmental Threats to Healthy Aging," which was published in 2009.
"The Flint crisis is the logical outcome of decades of betrayal by the bipartisan political establishment serving the economic elite: deindustrialization and disinvestment, abandonment of democracy and neglect of the lives and well being of poor people and communities of color," said Stein.
The Green Party leader has received awards for her work from Clean Water Action and the Toxic Action Center.
